SECOND CHANCE ANIMAL TRUST -
History Of SCAT.
Second Chance Animal Trust ( SCAT ) was founded in September 1995,
following the closure of the local Animals home in Norwich,
which left many willing volunteers with nowhere to go.
With this in mind, SCAT proceeded to raise money for a new animal home.
The money started to come in, but there was still no animals home.
Pip Allen & her husband John, decided they would use their own bungalow
in Hellesdon as a base, from where they could organise fund raising events and they
started to take in and rehome animals.
Anything to make sure the animals had a place to go.
In September 1997, after 2 years of hard fundraising, a site was found.
SCAT moved to East Tuddenham, renting a boarding kennels & cattery, which
gave them accommodation for 24 Dogs and 26 Cats.
For 6 years, the rehoming went from strength to strength, but in February 2003,
due to excessive rental increases, SCAT finally moved out.
It was back to the bungalow, for however long it would take to find
new premises.
In July 2004, another new site was found at Long Stratton.
As you can see from the article about the NEW SITE,
It was not going to be easy, but we're still here! THANKS TO HUGE PUBLIC SUPPORT!
WE ARE STILL IN NEED OF WILLING VOLUNTEERS, HELPERS
AND FUNDRAISERS.
